McJesus Nuggets - Nuggets of Truth To Live By
Today's sermon is designed to be a little bit different than usual. Instead of a in-depth Bible study about a specific issue I want to give you nuggets of truths to live by. You might title today's sermon, "McJesus Nuggets." You all know that when you go and get nuggets each one is just a mouth full, but when you eat several it gets you full. So, today we will get nuggets to live by, small delectable morsels of mouth watering, tongue slapping, finger licking goodness. In fact, if the Colonel had this recipe he would have been a General.
Look at someone today and tell them get ready for piping hot, simmering golden crisp, fresh out of the oven McJesus Nuggets.
Each one of these nuggets will be pieces of truth that will help you to become more successful and victorious in Christ Jesus.
Nugget #1 Persistence begins where most others quit.
"The nose of the bulldog is slanted backwards so he can continue to breathe without letting go." Sir Winston Churchill
(Heb 12:1 KJV) Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
One person who has commitment, persistence, and endurance will accomplish more than a thousand people with just interest. It is not what you have, it's what you do with what you have that makes you and I a success in life.
We need to be postage-stamp Christians. The usefulness of the postage stamp is its ability to stick to something until it gets there.
(2 Pet 3:14 KJV) Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
(1 Cor 15:58 KJV) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable , always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
In the Far East there is a tree called the Chinese bamboo. When you plant it you must water and fertilize it for five years before it grows. But in the fifth year there is a five week span of time where it will grow ninet y feet.
The question is this did the bamboo grow ninety feet in five weeks or did it grow ninety feet in five years?
Answer: It grew ninety feet in five years! Many times we quit watering and fertilizing our dreams during the first four years and miss the destiny of our hopes.
When we are tempted to quit and give up, continue to water and fertilize your dreams, plans, those visions from God that He has placed within us.
Quote for the day, "By perseverance the snail reached the ark." By Charles H. Spurgeon
Heb 12:1: Verses 1-11. The persevering obedience of faith in Christ, was the race set before the Hebrews, wherein they must either win the crown of glory, or have everlasting misery for their portion; and it is set before u s. By the sin that does so easil y beset us, understand that sin to which we are most prone, or to which we are most exposed, from habit, age, or circumstances. This is a most important exhortation; for while a man's darling sin, be it what it will, rema ins unsubdued, it will hinder him from running the Christian race, as it takes from him every motive for running, and gives power to every discouragement. When weary and faint in their minds, let them recollect that the holy Jesus suffered, to save them from eternal misery. By steadfastly looking to Jesus, their thoughts would strengthen holy affections, and keep under their carnal desires. Let us then frequently consider him. What are our little trials to his agonies, or even to our deserts ? What are they to the sufferings of many others? There is a proneness in believers to grow weary, and to faint under trials and afflictions; this is from the imperfection of grace and the remains of corruption. Christians should not faint under their tria ls. Though their enemies and persecutors may be instruments to inflict sufferings, yet they are Divine chastisements; their heavenly Father has his hand in all, and his wise end to answer by all. They must not make light of afflictions, and be without feel ing under them, for they are the hand and rod of God, and are his rebukes for sin. They must not despond and sink under trials, nor fret and repine, but bear up with faith and patience. God may let others alone in their sins, but he will correct sin in his own children. In this he acts as becomes a father. Our earthly parents sometimes may chasten us, to gratify their passion, rather than to reform our manners. But the Father of our souls never willingly grieves nor afflicts his childr en. It is always for o ur profit. Our whole life here is a state of childhood, and imperfect as to spiritual things; therefore we must submit to the discipline of such a state. When we come to a perfect state, we shall be fully reconciled to all God's ch astisement of us now. God 's correction is not condemnation; the chastening may be borne with patience, and greatly promote holiness. Let us then learn to consider the afflictions brought on us by the malice of men, as corrections sent by our wise and gracious Father, for our spiri tual good.
Nugget #2 10 Important questions and answers that will determine our success.
1) What one decision would I make if I knew that I could not
fail?
2) What one thing should I eliminate from my life because it
holds me back from reaching my full potential in Christ?
3) If everyone in the United States were on my level
spiritually, would there be a revival or a famine in the land?
4) Does the devil know who I am?
5) Would you recognize Jesus if you met him in the
mall?
6) What impossible thing am I believing and planning
for?
7) What is my most prevailing thought?
8) Am I on the path of something marvelous or something
mediocre?
9) Who has Christ placed in my life that I should witness
to?
10) What is one thing that I can do for someone else who has
no opportunity to repay me?
Nugget #3 Don't wonder where the time has gone, tell it where to go.
All great achievers, all successful people are those who have been able to control the use of their time. It is not how much we do that makes a difference, it is how much we get done.
(Psa 90:12 KJV) So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Psa 90:12: Verses 12-17. Those who would learn true wisdom, must pray for Divine instruction, must beg to be taught by the Holy Spirit; and for comfort and joy in the returns of God's favour. They pray for the mercy of God, for they pretend not to plead a ny merit of their own. His favour would be a full fountain of future joys. It would be a sufficient balance to former griefs. Let the grace of God in us produce the light of good works. And let Divine consolations put gladness into our hearts, and a lustre upon our countenances. The work of our hands, establish thou it; and, in order to that, establish us in it. Instead of wasting our precious, fleeting days in pursuing fancies, which leave the possessors for ever poor, let us seek the forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance in heaven. Let us pray that the work of the Holy Spirit may appear in converting our hearts, and that the beauty of holiness may be seen in our conduct.
Have you ever said, "I'd give anything to be able to do .....?"
Remember a very important rule to achievement. 6 X 1 = 6 If you will dedicate one hour per day, six days per week you can achieve and accomplish almost anything.
Take control of your time and become more successful than you have ever dreamed.
Know that if you know where you are going you will get there if you continue forward.
Don't be like the jet pilot who told the passengers, "Ladies and Gentlemen I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is we have lost all radar contact, all radio contact and I have know idea where we are. The good news is we are making great time."
Nugget #4 Don't quit once you have the victory.
There are two times in life people seem to quit and give up. When they experience defeat and when they are victorious.
(Phil 1:6 KJV) Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
(2 Pet 1:4 NIV) Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
(2 Pet 1:5 NIV) For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness ; and to goodness, knowledge;
(2 Pet 1:6 NIV) and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;
(2 Pet 1:7 NIV) and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
(2 Pet 1:8 NIV) For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(2 Pet 1:9 NIV) But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
(2 Pet 1:10 NIV) Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall ,
Nugget #5 When you get knocked down - get up!
How we respond to failure and mistakes is on of the most important decisions you will make every day. Failure is always the opportunity to learn something. What is in you will always be bigger than whatever is around you.
Only those who do not expect to win are never disappointed. Only those who never try, never fail. It is always better to fail doing something great that to do nothing and succeed.
A flawed diamond is still more valuable than a perfect brick.
Everybody gets knocked down once in a while, but its how fast you get up that counts. If you fall, look up, because if you can look up you can always get up!
Here is the key to learning from failure. Learn the lessons of the failure but forget the details. Gain the experience but don't waste one precious moment of the present remorsing over the failure.
Remember: The call is always higher than the fall.
Nugget #6 Today is the day you need to decide to go through what you've been going through!
Have you ever heard someone tell you, "But brother you don't know what I am going through?" "I'm going through such and such."
Today is the day to decide to go through what you've been going through!
Today is the day to say, "I have had enough of this! Now is the time I am going through!"
(1 Cor 10:13 NIV) No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so th at you can stand up under it.Find the way He has provide and go through!
Today make the decision to go through what your going through! You might look at your circumstances and they may not have changed, but between you and God, it doesn't make any difference because you have already gone through that situation.
Once you have gone through don't go back through. Just tell the devil no way I have been there and have done that, I am going on.
Should I stop here? I mean you have already received six nuggets or do you want to go on and eat the nine piece dinner?
That's what I thought!
Nugget #7 Everything big starts with something little.
(Zec 4:10 NIV) " Who despises
the day of small things? Men will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the
hand of Zerubbabel. "(These seven are the eyes of the
LORD, which ra
nge throughout the earth.)"
(Mat 25:23 NIV) "His master replied,
'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few
things; I will put you in charge of many things . Come and share your
master's happiness!'
When you don't know what to do next, do something!
Don't wait for the golden opportunity of success. Don't wait for a helping hand.
The best helping hand you will ever find is on the end of your arm.
The best opportunity is doing something for God.
Sometimes you will not see the top of the mountain, but with each step you climb to top gets closer.
Nugget #8 Never surrender your dreams to the nay sayers .
Nobody can ever make you feel like a failure without your permission. Ingratitude, criticisms, doubts, and ridicule are always going to come; they are the price you pay when you pass those who are mediocre.
You will never hear those criticisms until you are on the road to success and pass those who have stopped along the road.
Remember this the dogs keep on barking but the train keeps on rolling down the track.
(Prov 12:19 NIV) Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment .
(Heb 13:6 NIV) So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can
man do to me?"
Truth always outlives the lie. If what you say and do is of God, it will not make any difference if every person on planet earth stands up and criticizes you, it is not of God, nothing of other people say will make it right.
Nugget #9 The size of your God will determine how much faith you can put in him.
(Psa 95:3 NIV) For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.
(1 John 4:4 NIV) You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
God is everlasting, just caring, holy, divine, omniscient, omnipotent, omni-present and sovereign. He is light, perfection, abundance, salvation, wisdom, love, truth, the alpha and omega. He is the creator, the savior, the deliverer, the redeemer, the pr ovider, the healer, the advocate, a friend that sticks closer than a brother. He is the great God of the universe and He lives inside you.
Have you ever looked out the window of an airplane? Have noticed how little your FPL bill is when you are 37,000 feet above the earth? There is not a problem in this world that when God looks down on it that God doesn't see it as something small. But th ere is never a person too small that God will not give his total attention too.
(Jer 32:17 NIV) "Ah, Sovereign
LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and
outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.
God is bigger than _________. You fill in the blank of your life.
Should I stop here or how many of you want to go on and get the 12 pack? That's what I thought.
Nugget #10 It is more important to seek God's presence than to seek His presents.
(Psa 16:11 NIV) You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
(Psa 16:11 KJV) Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
(Psa 31:20 NIV) In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues.
(1 John 3:19 NIV) This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence
We all need times when we need shelter from the criticisms and hurts of life. It is in the presence of God where you will find fulness of joy. It is in the presence of God where you will find peace and rest. All troubles, nervousness, anxiety, unrest al l flee from the presence of the Lord.
Nugget #11 We always stand tallest when we are on our knees.
The most important key you and I will ever use is to take the time and go to your knees and ask God for His help and guidance.
(Phil 4:6 KJV) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
(Phil 4:7 KJV) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Have you ever made this stupid statement or have you heard someone make this statement when someone is gravely ill. "All we can do now is pray."
This is the dumbest statement of mankind. All we can do now is ask God for his help. All we can do now is pray!
Prayer defeats the devil, saves the unbeliever, heals the sick, overcomes the impossible, changes the natural, imparts wisdom, brings peace, and reveals God's answers! But all we can do now is pray?
Nugget #12 God is not your problem; God is the answer, God is on your side!
(Rom 8:31 KJV) What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Their final triumph, through Christ
(Rom 8:32 KJV) He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Rom 8:32: Verses 32-39. All things whatever, in heaven and earth, are not so great a display of God's free love, as the gift of his coequal Son to be the atonement on the cross for the sin of man; and all the rest follows u pon union with him, and interest in him. All things, all which can be the causes or means of any real good to the faithful Christian. He that has prepared a crown and a kingdom for us, will give us what we need in the way to it. Men may justify themselves, though the accusations are in f ull force against them; but if God justifies, that answers all. By Christ we are thus secured. By the merit of his death he paid our debt. Yea, rather that is risen again. This is convincing evidence that Divine justice was satisfied. We have such a Friend at the right hand of God; all power is given to him. He is there, making intercession. Believer! does your soul say within you, Oh that he were mine! and oh that I were his; that I could please him and live to him! Then do not toss your spirit and perplex your thoughts in fruitless, endless doubtings, but as you are convinced of ungodliness, believe on Him who justifies the ungodly. You are condemned, yet Christ is dead and risen. Flee to Him as such. God having manifested his love in giving his own Son for us, can we think that any thing should turn aside or do away that love? Troubles neither cause nor show any abatement of his love. Whatever believers may be separated from, enough remains. None can take Christ from the believer: none can take the believe r from Him; and that is enough. All other hazards signify nothing. Alas, poor sinners! though you abound with the possessions of this world, what vain things are they! Can you say of any of them, Who shall separate us? You may be removed from pleasant dwel lings, and friends, and estates. You may even live to see and seek your parting. At last you must part, for you must die. Then farewell, all this world accounts most valuable. And what hast thou left, poor soul, who hast not Christ, but that which thou wou ldest gladly part with, and canst not; the condemning guilt of all thy sins! But the soul that is in Christ, when other things are pulled away, cleaves to Christ, and these separations pain him not. Yea, when death comes, that breaks all other unions, even that of the soul and body, it carries the believer's soul into the nearest union with its beloved Lord Jesus, and the full enjoyment of him for ever.
(Rom 8:33 KJV) Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
(Rom 8:34 KJV) Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
(Rom 8:35 KJV) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
(Rom 8:36 KJV) As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
(Rom 8:37 KJV) Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
(Rom 8:38 KJV) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
(Rom 8:39 KJV) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
